Hall of Famer, and 6 time NBA champion Michael Jordan has amassed wealth for himself primarily through his endorsements with Nike and Hanes along with his majority ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats, making his estimated net worth a little over $1 Billion dollars.
His real income growth began as he started playing for the Bulls in 1986. Over the course of his NBA career he earned $93 million as a player. Endorsements however have earned him a substantially larger fortune over the years.
In 2010 he increased stakes in the Charlotte Bobcats NBA franchise team to 80%, making him majority owner. As of 2015 he is an almost 90% stake holder with the Bobcats team, and it has increased in value bringing in revenue to finally make Michael Jordan a billionaire with his estimated stake value alone being just shy of $450,000,000.
Many players in the NBA consider Jordan to be the greatest legend in pro basketball and work under the Nike brand, and Jumpman logo to create their own shoe deals with Nike. Some of these athletes include Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and many others.
One of the few current NBA greats who haven’t jumped on the Air Jordan bandwagon to riches include Stephen Curry who signed a big deal with Under Armour in 2014, as he continues to build his own line with an emerging brand.
