Schoolboy Q, also known as Quincey Matthew Hanley, is an American hip hop recording artist who currently has a contract with Top Dawg Entertainment. He is also part of a hip hop “supergroup” that is called Black Hippy, and it is comprised of fellow California-based rappers Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar. Schoolboy Q has a current estimated net worth between $2 million and $3 million, but not exceeding $3 million.
Schoolboy Q has stated multiple times that, though he had interest in the industry by age 16, it wasn’t until he was 21 that he began to make his dreams a reality. He began to work with Top Dawg Entertainment in 2006, collaborating with Jay Rock and Ab-Soul.
In July 2009, Schoolboy Q released his first mixtape, which was titled Schoolboy Turned Hustler. At this time, he has released a total of three albums. There is no release date available for a new album.
By March 2011, Schoolboy Q was headlining his first show at the Key Club in West Hollywood, California. Later in the year, he was arrested at the 2011 South by Southwest music festival, and was arrested and jailed for marijuana possession. In spite of this setback, he continued to work hard on his music to produce additional albums. His music earned him multiple nominations in 2014 and 2015 from the BET Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards, Grammy Awards, and the MTV Video Music awards.
In his personal life, Schoolboy Q has a daughter named Joyce, who was born in 2010. However, at this time, he is not presently involved in a relationship with the mother. Joyce is the featured subject of multiple song lyrics and has appeared in some of his music videos. For his album Oxymoron, she has multiple speaking parts as well. The rest of his personal life is fairly quiet.
